The Walking Dead

Image
It's time for an update. You know, because I'm doing stuff. Things. I'm so excited about October 12th. Are you? THE WALKING DEAD! That's right folks.  It's time for Season 5. From the very first episode, I was hooked.  You remember the scene with the Goldilocks zombie at the gas station right?  Suspense, shock, terror, insanity. My husband and I gave each other our best "holy crap" look and instantly hungered for more. Thankfully, it's still going strong. Here we are at Season 5 and I'm still just as enthralled as I was from Days Gone Bye. Pair my excitement with the hostess blood that runs through my veins and what do you have?  And by hostess, I don't mean Twinkies and HoHos. Although...you might look at me and be surprised that isn't the case. Baby got back. ANYWAY...all that to say... LETS GET CRAZY. With my beautiful family, I have thrown a few Walking Dead Parties.  Nothing over the top, I might add. I'm sure th...

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.- Hebrews 10: 23-25 T here are few things as precious as friendship. Real, beautiful, joyful, messy, painful friendship.  I sound like an old lady but it seems like these days, it’s so easy to lose sight of the importance of real friendships. I've been reflecting on this a lot lately...mostly because I recently deactivated my Facebook. I wanted to reevaluate the things I make time for. We are all connected through social media but we miss out on real-life connection. Even though I believe these tools of technology are useful in a lot of ways…like the fact I get to see what’s happening with my cousin in Germany, it doesn't compare to seein...

I'm behind this glass you built Pleading for your eyes to search & find me again Thrill my thoughts, don't pass me in yours I'm right hear, I'll always be We have not lost the war we fought We are not lost at sea My love, find me So close we could almost touch Promise me you won't give up! Inside, my breath clouds the pane and my hands compose a song  A chorus I sing for only you Search & find me again You know where we belong now You know what to do

1921-2014 I found a treasure chest hidden in your room I just wanted a piece of you to somehow carry me through I was sure to find your rubies gently put away or your polished trophies from the so called "golden days" Instead when it was opened, much to my disbelief Were not the gems and jewels of yesteryear But gifts to you...from me Every little drawing and scratch of color across a page Became a masterpiece, a chef-d'oeuvre, more valuable with age The macaroni fragments, delicate and worn These were things to throw away but to you, they were your pearls The birthday cards and pictures and everything in between Do nothing but loudly exclaim this great love you had for me And while I'm here where you once sang the desire for home is now an ache All I want is to be with you...All I want is to see your face But I will live with my memories and smile in this remembrance God's love was written in your life and aloud, you read eve...

Right Now Conference 2013

Image
I went to a conference earlier this month that impacted me tremendously.  It was a conference directed to people involved in leadership / ministry. My husband and I, along with a group of leaders from our church, attended this event in Dallas, TX.   We were able to hear a crazy amount of wisdom from speakers such as Eric Mason, J.D. Greear, Larry Osborne, Tullian Tchividjian and so on. I wanted to share some of the key quotes that attacked my heart. Enjoy! It’s in the midst of our greatest mess that God shows up. Guess what? Our mess doesn’t surprise Him. The messiest people are the bessiest people for God to use. God always picks the team He can get the most glory out of. In our eyes, God looks like he picks the worst. God loves to pick out the people who need freedom because they never forget WHO set them free! -   Eric Mason It’s amazing how many people will change when you stop trying to fix them. When we try to change others, that’s really a...

Change=Good

Image
It really does. So many things are changing for the better.  First of all, I'm totally digging my new layout.  I wanted a new look to go with my fresh start. :) Changes happening... 1. My relationship with God is growing.  He's always been working on me but I've been very complacent for a very long time.  I'll talk more about that later. But for now, let me just say, I've been loving this hunger and reawakened desire to KNOW Him. When I read the Bible, it's not a chore...it's a desire to want to know my Savior. 2. Health. I've got a kick-arse gym buddy who is super encouraging and motivating. I've been getting into a routine.  Baby steps.  I can't expect to undo in a few days what took years to turn into a mess.  This also goes hand in hand with eating better. I've had a few hiccups but I'm staying motivated to stay on track.  This is a big deal for me because I get discouraged so easily. #icandothis 3. Leadership.  God...

My life right now in a meme

Image
My husband is into the meme world. He loves 9gag.com and he's always showing me hilarious things he sees online. Anyway, I created this for him and wanted to share it because it pretty much sums up this week. lol! He did something really sweet for me the other day and I wanted to kill him! My emotions were all over the place. Anyway, you'll get it. I love you, Monster. Thank you. :) So I probably wont update for a while (again) and I want to know what you're most thankful for. The thing I'm MOST thankful for this year are my grandparents. I'm blessed to have them in my life. They are some of the sweetest people I've ever known. My Oma (grandmother on moms side) is 91 and I'm so fortunate that I get to spend another Thanksgiving with her. I don't stop and thank God enough for the treasures He has given me and I'm realizing I need to really value what I have by actions and not just my words. Happy Thanksgiving, ya'll! Hope its a great on...

The Current Status of Health and such.  If you’re not interested…skip! I started researching a few things today and found out that women with PCOS – which is what I have – need more protein in their diets.  So, it’s a change in the game for me.  This weight is some kind of stubborn!  I recently started taking Metformin.  I started taking it a long time ago and hated what it did to my stomach but a friend of mine who also has PCOS said that I needed to treat Meformin like it’s the cure.  Thankfully, they have Meformin extended release which is way easier on the stomach.  I’m starting to take B12 because a lot of women with PCOS may have a B12 deficiency that can also contribute to infertility a long with much, much more. As far as weight loss goes, I’ve loss some pounds but not enough for me to flip over.  I started Advocare and then quit.  I lost like 5lbs the first weeks but I could not get it together with the meal planning.  I’ll be...

Five & Counting

Image
My Anniversary Weekend was AWESOME . I can't believe it's been 5 years. We had so much fun together.  We started the day off earlier than usually.  We used to sleep in all the time and lately, we are getting up earlier. Does this mean we’re finally growing up? Hmmm.  We hung around at the house trying to decide if we wanted to go out of town.  With Isaac having just grandpa’d his way through, we didn’t want to really travel. For my Monster. :) Redneck picnic it was! I was so worried it was going to rain but thankfully it held up.  I was going to prepare some picnic food that morning but my hubby said he wanted a steak. Lol! Great picnic food right? Chili’s-to-go it was! We picked a sweet little spot by the river and enjoyed each others company.  After that, we did a little bit of shopping.  We took Kaiser with us since we were also celebrating his birthday. He made 5 this month too! I wish I  would've  taken pics of him in Petsmart...

Hello Hurricane, you can't silence my love.

I thought it would be appropriate to update.  It’s been quite a while.  We survived Isaac.  Thankfully, we didn’t have any damage or power outages where we are.  However, so many people have suffered due to this storm.  Please keep them in prayer. Kaiser was being a little dramatic that he couldn't play outside. I spent my days waiting out the weather with my grandmother who seemed to stay in a constant state of confusion.  According to her…she was staying in my home, we were getting ready for church, I’m from Texas and I didn't feed her for lunch. Poor thing didn't know what was going on.  She was in a great mood other than that.  It was so cute at one point where after I fed her lunch, she sighed contently and gave me an excuse about needing to relax.  So relaxing meant sitting in the worn out spot on the couch watching NBC.  Now, my grandmother insists that anything electronic is of the devil but yet she wa...

Because of You

Image
My baby blues, your warmest eyes our hearts were locked, hands intertwined forever yours, content and safe My first breath was with you that day My first laugh to my first crawl You stayed close to capture it all A mouth of drool, a wobbly stance You’d let me fall and I’d find your hands You guarded me from your newest sting I felt no rain from under your wings The void was small when he turned from us because your love was more than enough I marched ahead with books to carry & I had no idea your heart weighed heavy I learned so much from what they gave but I learned the most from your ways I felt so strange and out of place but it was then that I saw your faith That example helped my own mature to something real and something pure So I sought after God and His will All focus was fixed, that is, until… Was I a toddler or was I a teen? I pitched my fits and kicked and screamed We seemed to speak two different tongues and I f...

My Valentine

Image
There are three things that amaze me—no, four things that I don’t understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman. - Proverbs 30:18-19 I hope all of you are having a wonderful day with your Sweethearts.  If you are single and hate this day, you'll probably hate this post. Look away!!! I love my Valentine.  If you know my Monster, Ninja Jon , you know that he loves LUH HUVS to write & has this insane addiction to books (with a mighty collection to support it). I posted some pics below of the small gifts I gave him.  I also sent him a video that was intended for his eyes only but then the goober posted it on facebook for the Zuckerberg world to see...so I'm just going to throw it right here .  Thinking about it makes me blush but it's already out there. Meh. Excuse my big ole head, the quality and the fact I look creepy.  Just pay attention to the end because...
