about me

Thanks for visiting my blog. Put your feet up and make yourself at home! :)
I’m a twenty-something artist, poet, singer, vintage loving southern belle, clumsy nerd, & wife of this wonderful guy...
His name is Jon. I know what you’re thinking. But there’s more to his life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking and I plan on finding out what that his. You can found out more about our story here. It’s pretty crazy, jus sayin.
We live in a small city with our small, hairy child, Kaiser. He’s the best dog I’ve ever loved.  We think we spoil him but really…he spoils US.  Read more about this rescued baby.

So there are the largest pieces of my heart.

When I’m not working, spending time with my family and singing then you might catch me in front of a canvas. There's nothing more relaxing and expressive to me than painting.  I don't create masterpieces by any means and I may never be one of those kinds of artist but while I'm learning, I'm having fun with it. Sometimes it’s difficult to make time for that hobby. Who am I kidding? It’s always difficult but I’m hoping to master the art of time management.

I originally started this blog after my husband encouraged me to share my poetry. The idea of exposing that part of me was terrifying but he made me feel like it wasn’t meant to be unseen. So voila! Aside from poetry, I share my faith, art, thoughts and tend to ramble every now and then.

The title "There's a monster in my chest" has special meaning to me for a couple of reasons.

1.    I thought it was a good name for my blog because my heart is my monster. Whether it's good or not so good side of me, it's exposed here on my blog.

2.     I’ve also call Jon “my monster” since we were dating. It just seemed like the best term of endearment for him and it stuck. Don’t like the mushy gushy reasons for the title? Well…

3.    The title was originally inspired by a movie Jon introduced me to when we were dating. Alien Resurrection. I never cared about watching any of the Alien movies but since he's a movie buff, this was uncalled for. We couldn't spend the rest of our lives together if I never saw Sigourney Weaver kick some serious extraterrestrial tail. Now I love the Alien movies! :) Anyway, in one scene she tells a frightened lad that he has a monster in his chest. When I heard that, I thought…don’t we all?   view my blogger profile
